My very first project :)

My first project is inspired by the past, present and future. To begin I looked at my own past and looked at other class members pasts as well. Then I did things in the present so took the emothions and thoughts at that very moment then displayed them visually. I then thought about my future, like my hopes and dreams and then presented them in a visual way.

Drawing in the style of other artists

This is my darwing of a image done by kolowitz, his drawings are intresting to draw as he has a lot of tone and light contarst in certain areas which contain lots of detail. However, further away from the face the lines become more lose and have a more contrast.

Using different mediums to draw from still life

This image I made using ink and biro. By using continious line drawing I sketched out the basic shapes of the plant and then used a paint brush to appply the different coloured ink. To allow the image to stand out I painted the background with black ink to contrast the red of my drawing. Plus to add affect I experimented with splatting ink on my work.

For this image I drew from a withered flower and began using black ink and a twig. I then worked on top of this  green ink and dropped some down the picture. This gives an atmospheric style to the work and i

My sketchbook

This is my sketchbook, the theme is past, present and future and we used different forms for different parts for example:

At the end is a bike which is already something I do regulary and also a city scene both created in 3D. also a textiles peice created during one day by doing things in a set time at every minute of the session for a minute. I enjoyed the textiles aspect of the project the most because I was learning new skills at a fast pace which gave me the need to want to learn more.

The word believe is important to me and my artwork because I think that if you dont beileve in yourself then others won't be able to beileve in you neither. It gives you the confidence to be yourself in both life and the industry you plan to work in.

Full view of my sketchbook.

Small hearts each one representing a person I admire and love including artists, friends and family. .

During the 3D introduction i created a small hot air balloon out of wire and card because it is always something i had dreamed of doing in the future.

I did a screen print soemthing i had never done before and learnt in the textiles introduction of a fairy because it was a strong belief i had as a child and i now see the importance of strong beliefs.

During the induction to vis com we learnt about typography which uses words to fill an object in this case, we took a picture of ourselves and wrote a small biography of our lives; what we already do, what we have done and what we planned to do in the future.

My still life observation drawings

In our drawing lesson we drew from still life observation of natural objects such as shells, wilted flowers, rocks and bones. We explored the objects form by studying the detail of the object from close observation and shape by looking at the object with a more 3 dimensional view rather than a 2D flat approach. I then developed my tonal skills by using different pencils mainly using a 3B to a 5b to add the different tones. Also understanding the techniques used in order to get the different surface's for example: pressing hard of soft, using the tip of the pencil or the side of the pencil and cross hatching or smudging.

This drawing is probably my strongest piece int his activity as I was able to achieve better tone on the shell as I was aware of its form and shape.

I found this object the hardest to draw however I am pleased with the outcome as the techniques I followed were different from the usual techniques I had previously used.
